- Over the past few years the Europeana.eu the European Union funded platform that provides access to digitzied cultural heritage objects from cultural heritage institutions across all of Europe has grown to 43 million objects. 25% of the objects are in the Public Domain (and marked with the Public Domain Mark) and another 22% are available under one of the 6 Creative Commons licenses. Today Europeana is a strong advocate of open data and open content. In his presentation Paul Keller (who serves on the boards of both CC and Europeana) will explain how Europeana came to be the open content power-hosue that it is today and what other cultural heritage institutions and cultural heritage aggregation platforms can learn from this.
