Fatima Sao Simao

Head of Development for the Arts
Fátima São Simão (Porto, 1981) is head of business development for the arts at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, where she supports the development of cultural startups and projects, since 2009. She is also the public lead of Creative Commons Portugal (volunteer), where she coordinated the CC Toolkit for Business (https://business-toolkit.creativecommons.org) and the performance Copywrong (https://copywrong-cc.tumblr.com). For 10 years, Fátima was also project manager of futureplaces.org - medialab for citizenship, at UTAustin-Portugal Colab (2008-2018).
Fátima has a background in Economics (Faculty of Economics of Porto) and a Master of Arts in Cultural Policy and Management (City University of London). While in university, she was president of the university theatre group (TUP), where she also participated as actress and producer, collaborating with various theatre, film and other arts productions ever since. In 2020, Fátima completed her PhD thesis about “Authors’ Rights and Rights’ Authors: On the Relationship Between Copyright and Artistic Work”, at Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
