Fátima São Simão (Porto, 1981) is a project developer/ strategist for the cultural and creative sector. For the past 12 years, she was head of business development for the arts at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, where she supported the development of cultural and creative startups, projects and ideas. She has been public lead of Creative Commons Portugal (volunteer), having coordinated projects such as CC Toolkit for Business (https://business-toolkit.creativecommons.org), Copywrong - performance-as-tool (https://copywrong-cc.tumblr.com) or Copyright and Creative Work (https://creativework.creativecommons.pt). She is currently a guest lecturer at Faculdade de Economia do Porto (FEP) and Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), teaching the fields of cultural economics, media economics and management, project development and entrepreneurship.
Fátima has a background in Economics (FEP) and a Master of Arts in Cultural Policy and Management (City University of London). While in university, she was president of the university theatre group (TUP), where she also participated as actress and producer, collaborating with various theatre, film and other arts productions ever since. In 2020, Fátima completed her PhD thesis about “Authors’ Rights and Rights’ Authors: On the Relationship Between Copyright and Artistic Work” (https://repositorio-aberto.up.pt/handle/10216/129308), at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP).
